sweet treat: the popcorn candle that's unlike anything else on the market
when people pick up the sweet treat candle for the first time, the reaction is always the same.
they smell it. they look up. they smell it again.
"is this... popcorn?"
yes. it is. and it's unlike anything else in the UK candle market right now.
why a popcorn candle?
the honest answer: i wanted to make a scent that made people feel something the moment they smelled it.
most candles aim for beautiful. sweet treat went for joyful. there's a difference. beautiful is a hygge collection in muted tones with a scent called "nordic dusk." joyful is the specific smell of a cinema on a saturday afternoon, the bowl that appears the moment a film starts, the comfort of a cosy evening with nowhere you need to be.
that's the feeling i was after. i tried a lot of fragrance combinations before this one worked.
what it actually smells like
sweet treat isn't just popcorn. the scent journey is:
top: buttery popcorn. warm, savoury-sweet, immediately recognisable
heart: brown sugar. rich and caramel-edged, the sweetness that makes it feel like a treat
base: vanilla. soft and creamy, stops it tipping into artificial territory
the vanilla base is what makes it work. without it, you'd get something that smells like a cinema concession stand. with it, you get something that feels genuinely luxurious. warm and familiar, but better than you expected.
who is it for?
the people who love sweet treat most are the ones who were slightly suspicious of it first.
"i'm not sure about a food candle," they say. and then they light it and by the end of the evening they've messaged me asking how quickly they can get another one.
it's for evenings in. film nights. the hour after dinner when you're not quite ready for bed. it burns for 40 hours. that's a lot of movie nights.
it's also, quietly, one of the most complimented candles i've ever taken to a market. strangers stop. they can't quite believe what they're smelling. and then they buy it.
step aside, pumpkin spice
there's a moment every autumn when the world goes pumpkin spice. i understand the appeal. i just think we can do better.
sweet treat is the answer to every cosy autumn candle that plays it safe. it's warm and nostalgic without being predictable. it's the candle that makes people ask where you got it.
and unlike pumpkin spice, it works in july.
a note on the wax
like everything in the blissli collection, sweet treat is made with 100% soy wax. no paraffin blends, no phthalate-heavy fragrance oils. it burns cleanly, which matters when you've got something this rich. the last thing you want is a stunning scent sitting in a cloud of particulate matter.
hand-poured in small batches in Surrey. that's the whole production line.
